QUARANTINE - DAY 28 - 2nd April 2020 As people across the world settle into daily routines in their houses during lockdown, we hear about friends' ways of keeping occupied when not working - family exercise and/or yoga sessions; lots of baking bread and cakes; jigsaws and games; television; reading; daughters dyeing hair strange colours. It will be interesting to see what type of people emerge blinking in the sunlight after this has passed - blue haired and overweight, or pale faced but muscle-bound! Maybe some will emerge relaxed and have changed little in their daily routine, as Jaida Abusrour, a teacher from Beit Jala describes today: The first time I heard the news of Corona, I was not expecting it to reach Palestine, but with its development and arrival in Bethlehem itself I was surprised. I never feared for myself, not even my family, because I was relying on God, and I considered it an affliction that God inflicts upon whomever He wills. From the beginning of the year, I was trying to find a job that would satisfy my needs for the coming periods, and I had great hope in the two-month exam period, because I am a private teacher. But thank God the circumstances changed and they imposed the quarantine in that same period, and I had to stay at home from the beginning of the quarantine every day. Sitting at home has not affected me a lot, because I have always loved to relax in the house, and consider it an opportunity to find peace within myself. I have taken advantage of this period of quarantine to worship and remember God - praise be to God. https://www.bethlehem-town.com/ |
